tough time for all of us

with the deepest sadness

I have to accept the fact of my beloved classmate had passed away just now due to dengue

she had fought with the virus for days 

I knew she did her best already as she was a very brave and smart girl

I still can remember vividly the time with her during first year 

we were stayed in one house that time

she always have no doubt to lend me a hand whenever I asked her for help

last few days, she was holding my hand all the time during DRM camp

she hold my hand and kept told me not to be scared during 'terrorist' attack

she was brave enough to lead us when we were panic and had no idea what should do
she never wanted us to worry about her so she kept replied me that she was good when I showed my concern to her in the camp

although she already had fever that time, she still can stand up straight to join us for every activities during the camp

all of us never know that the camping was the last chance we all stay together with her

we will never able to see her again

we will never able to hear her voice again

we will never able to have the chance to study in the same class together

never and ever..........

a never-forget camping

I already came back from a 2D1N disaster training camping few hours ago
this camping was meant to prepare or train us as a humanitarian volunteer in a disaster
the mission of the camping was : we are humanitarian volunteers who are going to rescue victims in a disaster area. However, there are always some obstacles (eg. chaos, shortage of resources, terrorists) which have to overcome in order to accomplish the mission.

my Uni is the only one university offers this course (disaster relief management, DRM) in M'sia. So there are many people out there are unfamiliar with this course
this course is meant to teach people the things involved in disaster
our lecturers who teach and train us are well-trained humanitarian volunteers involved in rescuing of victims in disaster area internationally
many of them joined the rescue team of tsunami incident happened in Aceh 2004
I am always excited to hear about their experiences in a battle field or disaster area during class

during the training, we opted for one task among police, hospital, paramedic and triage
when we were in the scene area where disaster happened, we had to carry out our responsibilities according to the job chosen

when there is a happening of disaster, terrorists always find chances to create chaos in that area
(if you watched movies related to disaster or wars then you'll know)
most of the terrorist are craving for food and money when there is shortage of resources in a disaster

so those lecturers and some hired actors had became terrorists to invade our campsite anytime without giving us a signal (even at midnight)
the 'terrorists' kidnapped some hostages (which is us) to threaten us to hand in money or food to them
so negotiation is a very important part to rescue hostages and negotiator must be a sweet talker
although we knew that the events are fake, but we still needed to act like we were in the real situation to gain marks in order to pass this field work

I'd learnt a lot of living skills and get to know any possibility event which may happen in a disaster
I'm touched and admire the courage of the humanitarian volunteers because they are risking their lives to save people who have no blood relationship with them
I felt thankful because I gained a chance to learn first-aid skill which is very beneficial in dealing with any emergency case one day in future

I was really enjoyed the activities in camping
and truly appreciated what I had learnt during the process
this camping had made some changes in my life

Year 2 of pharmacy course is really a hectic year until I have no time to update my blog TT

ok, well. 

stop beating around the bush, I'm here to share my experiences in a national 5th pharmacy quiz last weekend

that was a grand and formal competition for pharmacy students from any university to show and exchange their knowledge

universities that were joining the quiz involved local and private U (taylors, imu, aimst, msu, mahsa, cucms and so on and so forth)

the pharmacy quiz for this year was held in UM and two teams from my uni(cucms) were qualified into semi-final and final round 

so we were there to give them mentally support and as a learning process

I'm very glad to be the audience of the competition as it was a super amazing contest

I did gain lots of benefits from the contest and knew that many talented pharmacy-to-be out there who will become my future colleagues

by the way, I'm not freaking out instead it will motivate me to work harder so I won't get eliminate from those future talented pharmacy and try to be one of them 

back to the result of the quiz, two team from my uni had secured 4th and 5th place in the quiz which really surprised me

I'm not doubting my course-mates but I never know that cucms can beat well-known pharmacy school eg. IMU, USM (so excited^^)

the champion goes to UM followed by UKM and UIA

it's not fun enough to see course-mates answering questions on the stage

I want to be the representative for my uni to join the quiz next year which held in UIA (sound confident XD)

praying that my dream comes true!!

one more exciting stuff to share is related to my mid-sem result

5As 1B, more than enough because I knew that I din't perform well in mid-sem exam
must jiayou for final to get dean list for this sem!!

i received a postcard from a taiwan girl who i get to know her from facebook
she is currently in USA and the postcard was sent from there of course!
so excited as this is my first time to receive postcard from a stranger

Unexpected news

yeap~
I'm here to bring a good news
my semester 2 result has been revealed today
without any mentally preparation
I searched for my ID and had a quick glance of my result
again, i maintain my record, straight As ^^

so,
dean list for 2nd semester...checked!!
accept the awards on the stage for twice in the coming semester...checked!!

as you know, human are greedy all the time
and of course I am not the exception
I already set a target for myself  >>>> aiming the first class and get waiver for my ptptn loan!!

Let's work hard together for those who are reading my blog^^

two weeks attachment in a retail pharmacy

yeah^^
i had done my two weeks attachment in retail pharmacy last week
i'm here just want to share my first experience about my future career

hmmmm...
kinda sad that i don't have the habit to snap photo all the time unlike my friends
they'll automatically take out their phones or whatever to capture every special moment that may just happens once in their life
so...
no photo for me to upload  *sigh

ok, back to the topic
actually there was more or less the same for what i done everyday
the pharmacist gave me a task everyday and i need to seek for the answers
once i'm free, i took out all the controlled medicine one by one in the cabinet
and search for the info of each of them by using MIMS and Mr. Google of course
i did learnt and recognized some common drugs
but i knew that there are so so so many brand names for a single drug eg. paracetamol
for what i learnt in a short two weeks are absolutely not enough

be frankly, i had lost my passionate toward the attachment in pharmacy on the first day
i found that i knew nothing about every single thing that a pharmacist should do
i don't know how to educate patient on using the medicament
i don't know what appropriate medicine should be recommended to patient (there are really too many types of medicine that have same effect but somehow they are slightly different in some aspects)
i don't know how to assist the pharmacist and staff there
i feel quite shame for my overconfident before  TT
however, i tried to approach the pharmacist and gain as much as knowledge in two weeks time
i believed that i can assist the patients and give them counselling about the usage of every medicine with full confidence one day, like a professional pharmacist ^^

by the way, my sis chew shean is doing her internship in mediacorp right now
(but i feel like it's a hardship from her blog XD)
it's normal that you found difficulty in the very beginning
but you will feel much better after you overcome the transition time
grab this opportunity to come in contact with your future works
because this is your first ever big step into your career (like what i done..hehe)

indulgence after final exam

as the saying goes, work hard play hard !!

we did work hard during exam weeks so now is the turn to play hard !!

exam ended on last wednesday 5pm

we rushed to the hostel for changing shirt and straight headed to red box in IOI 

it was super cost effective as we 'make use' of our student ID to get a cheaper price to enjoy the buffet and max 6 hours singing time for only 25 bucks !!

we all were like the prisoners just coming out from the jail and never eat good food for years...hahaha

but so sad that we were too high spirit until forgot to snap some photos...hahaha

the next day, thursday

we went to malacca for one day trip

so shame that i had went to malacca for times but i still can't act as tour guide to navigate the way...hahaha

thus we can only depend on GPS   TT

anyway, we reached malacca safe and sound due to the GPS

the fisrt station we went was Klebang coconut milk shake ~

Ps: 没有传说中的好喝啊，普通 XD

then, we went to dataran pahlawan for shopping and mahkota for nadeje ~

after that, we went to 红屋 to snap some photos ~~

followed by dinner, we went to well known satay celup (the purpose we went to malacca)

yummy yummy ~~

the last station in malacca was 'trishaw cruising' 

it was the first time sit on a trishaw...hahaha

and the trishaw uncle is so talkative and keep telling us the history of malacca...hahaha

after reached cybrjaya at 12 pm, we went for a movie 'vehicle 19'

that was the worst movie i ever seen, sucks ~~

here come to the end of our excursion !!

after playing so hard throughout the day, i feel like it's even more tired than exam week...hahaha

my favourite subject

i'm officially end my first year of pharmacy course~
there are three months of sem break for me to recharge my enerygy!!!

hmmmm...
what i had done throughout the first year?
there is nothing special in fact~~haha

by the way, the most interesting subject i had in sem 2 was 'compounding and dispensing'
the learning outcome of this subject is to expose us to the works that a pharmacist do in workplace
what i had learnt from this course are reading prescriptions from licensed medical practitioner, practice to use MIMS, compounding drugs, familiar with the drugs' basic functions or adverse reactions, demonstrate a real situation to educate patient in using medicament (this is an exam that contribute to 20% of the overall result) and so on and so forth

we also done different types of medicament that we will always encounter in the future in lab
here are the masterpiece from me =)


* simple syrup made from folic acid tablets

* calamine cream

* triturate powder with lactose

* hypertonic eye drop

 

yes~ you can feel how much i enjoy during the lab~ haha

and the most crucial part is that the lecturers are helpful and experienced !!

also, there will have a similar subject in the coming year 2 so i hope i can enjoy the course though it's super hectic than year 1  =P               

PS：can't wait for my 2 weeks attachment during this sem-break  XD

12/4/2013 - Awesome pre-grad dinner

year 2 seniors of faculty of pharmacy organized a pre-grad dinner for year 4 seniors
all students from faculty of pharmacy were invited and the theme of the dinner was "broadway night" !!

13/4/2013 - Sepang one day trip

As what Nic promised, he acted as a tour guide yesterday to lead 8 pretty girls travel around his hometown^^

  You can know how rich the China people are as we saw many tourist from China =P

  The cheapest room per head per night is 520 and there's nothing much entertainment.
  So we concluded that it's not worthy at all ... hahaha (sounds like we are professional XD)

we rushed to uni at 4pm from hostel as we already been home at 12pm
LOL

out of my expectation
my physical pharmacy had surprised me
i got straight As for this midsem exam unlike last semester .. hahaha
i'm happy that my efforts were not in vain as i always holding a note during the last CNY

sometimes, your ability is beyond your expectation
never give up in doing anything until the end even though it's tough in the journey

genting two days one night trip + yoga concert

finally reach my 'beloved' hostel
btw, i had a memorable holiday after mid-sem exam !!!!

jordan siewting chew shean and me went for yoga's concert two days ago at genting !!!
it was a good timing as i just need to go somewhere to relax my tension after exam
all thanks to my bebe ... hahahaha

well ...
we filled energy first in kl sentral while waiting for siew ting
nice breakfast ... hehe

we can't manage to get a bus ticket so we decided to take taxi
it cost 25 bucks per person !!!
hmmmm ... whatever la ... as long as we can reach our destination

in the taxi ...

approximately one hour later
we reached first world hotel !!!
Ps : ignore my edema-look face and pair of eye bag as i just finished my mid-sem exam TT

in the hotel room ...

time for yoga !!!

Ps : not many photo were taken as i only took videos ... we screamed like hell and end up with no sound ... we deserved it ... haha

time flies

we came to the end of an awesome 3 hours

feel so reluctant to leave the hall

even now

i can still feel the 'high' circumstance when watching the videos i took

i will never forget my first time concert experience which i spent with my beloved !!!

grand dinner on 5/2

forgot to post this before the previous post @@

anyway this was my first "reunion dinner" with my uni gang
it was at 8 road restaurant puchong
the dishes of this restaurant were quite yummy

the first dish ordered was yu sheng !!
we were so crazy when "lao yu sheng"
almost everyone in the restaurant were staring at us
it was so embarrassed but fun ~
because this was my fisrt time "lao yu sheng" with friends
i can barely remember the "ji xiang hua" we shouting during "lao yu sheng"
but i remembered the last three words vividly
heng ah !! ong ah !! huat ah !!
it's so funny as we are just students ... we no need to heng and ong and huat ... haha

the followed dishes got a big fish, wild board meat, prawn and so on ~
the meal cost us 324.8 bucks
em ... not really costly as that is kl price
the most important was that everyone had fun !!

then
the climax came after we finished our dinner
theresa hold a cake from the back and came nearer

me, jason and nic were like ...
what the hell is happening ??
we never expect they will celebrate our bd on that day !!
that's really a big suprise ~
* jason's birthday was 7/2 followed by me (8/2) and then nic (9/2)

after the grand dinner
we went to ioi mall to watch movie "parker"
the movie was very nice but lack of moral value
haha ~
